Occasionally, Mark and I have moments of lucidity when we realize that we simply can't keep and properly care for every
cat we see. Unfortunately, those moments tend to happen AFTER we have already adopted more than we should have. During the summer of
2000, Mark and I realized that we simply couldn't continue to care for the many wonderful cats we had in our homes and
hearts. Jazmyn, our asthmatic senior, needs our complete attention and we knew that she would need even more of it
as she grows older and more medical problems (caused by her asthma and the medications she takes to control it) crop up,
we would need all of our resources to go to her. Not to mention giving the proper attention, care, and feeding for our
resident Birman diva, Luv. Two really is the best number for us.
Mark and I begin the search for NEW owners for the cats who would do well and adapt readily to new homes. We don't take our
responsibility towards our feline wards lightly, so we waited until our "adoptees" were completely healthy and until
we found the PURRFECT new homes.
This is strictly a "Cats Formerly Known as OURS" page, which includes (at the bottom) the
two boys we had to adopt out because they refused to
play nicely with our girls and our dear Ebonine (just below Skittle), who tragically died as a kitten in March of 1998.
RACQUI HAANTZ
Date of Birth-5/5/98
Adopted by Us-7/10/98
Adopted Out-10/18/01

Racqui, this gorgeous blue-cream cat, is currently being fostered by the Kansas City Siamese Rescue
and is looking for a permanent home! She is a wonderful
cat, but was a bit too rambunctious for our older girls.
If you are interested in adopting her (or any other wonderful cats or kittens
--they don't just have Siamese cats, by the way), please visit the
web page we set up for her (with many gorgeous pictures and even an audio file of her mewing!) or
http://www.kcsiameserescue.org.
Adoption information can be found at the bottom of Racqui's web page.
As newborns, Racqui and Mousse (see below) were
left at a local veterinary clinic. Click

musical stylings of Racqui.
MOUSSE HAHN
Date of Birth-5/5/98
Adopted by Us-7/10/98
Adopted Out-Fall 2000

Mousse found a wonderful home in the fall of 2000 with one of Mark's coworkers. Mousse is the only
cat in the household (there is one dog, but Mousse assures us HE is no match for her!)
and now has a baby boy of her own. Moussie is really blossoming in her new home since she doesn't have to live under
her alpha-sister Racqui's shadow anymore. We always knew she had it in her! Mousse is a tortoiseshell (black with cream markings) female.
We adopted Mousse and Racqui in July of 1998 just after moving
into our new house. Mousse was always quite the scamp. You can hear Mousse protesting some wrong done her here.
SKITTLE REID
Date of Birth-3/24/93
Adopted by Us-5/20/92
Adopted Out-Fall 2000
Skittle also found a wonderful new home in the summer/fall of 2000. She has her very own boy now and is the only pet
in a house of THREE humans! She is truly livin' large. Skittle
is the stray that was born outside of our apartment on my birthday.
The mother carried her and her siblings off after a few days. Skittle was
the only survivor from that litter (she was born just before the infamous flood of 1993).
We grabbed her with the help of some
well-placed tuna in May of 1993.
We convinced Skittle to make some noises
by tickling her belly , the last sound you hear
is her world-famous "Rebel Skraw" (she had had enough of that tickling
nonsense!!).
EBONINE
Approximate Date of Birth-9/7/97
Adopted by Us-11/2/97
Died-3/23/98
Our Sweet Ebonine (her name is a combination of the name of the tragic heroine Eponine in Les Miserables and
Ebony since she was a coal black kitty) came to us by way of a call from my parents the day after Halloween in 1997. Mom said there was the cutest
little black kitten in their back yard following Ladybug around as if she were the kitten's mother. Being so soon after Halloween,
I just couldn't let that black kitten brave the elements (among other dangers) any longer. We set up a humane trap with a
can of wet cat food and finally nabbed her the evening of November 2nd. She came to us loaded with fleas and internal parasites.
Unfortunately, her luck didn't get much better in her much too short life. We had to euthanize our little Ebby when she kept
testing positive for a very contagious, fatal, incurable disease in March of 1998. She was only six and a half months old. While
we had her (and before she became sick), she was absolutely the quintessential kitten--getting into all kinds of mischief with
absolutely NO apologies. She enjoyed getting into hidden places and meowing at the top of her lungs until we lost it and yelled.
At which point, she would joyfully reappear to watch the steam roll out of our ears. She loved chasing Luvvy, the most prim, proper
Birman you could possibly find, and attacking that entirely too fluffy tail. Skittle adored her and seemed to look upon her as her
very own kitten (as is readily apparent in the 2nd picture). We were all nearly inconsolable at the loss of our dear Ebby.
TAJIA "BEAR" TRACY
Approximate Date of Birth-10/3/94
Adopted by Us-10/3/96
Adopted Out-Late 1997/Early 1998
We found this handsome fella in the Humane Society. Actually, the Humane Society had him listed as a spayed female
(they even claimed to have found a spay scar, thus they didn't attempt to spay the poor guy!). We loved the big guy,
but when he started playing too rough with Jazmyn (and caused her to have an asthma attack once), we knew he
couldn't stay with us any longer. He went to live with one of my friends and is happily living as one of three cats (and
keeps himself busy by bedeviling the female cat there!). Bear is known for his chatty nature. You can hear him talking
to anyone who will listen here.
SYNHA "BEANIE BOY" MASON
Date of Birth-3/22/93
Adopted by Us-9/3/93
Adopted Out-March/April 1996

We adopted Synha, a blue-point Birman, from a breeder in the fall of 1993. His nickname was "Little Shit" (they called him
"Little Bit" in front of company) at the cattery, and it didn't take us long to find out why. He's a very stubborn little
bulldog of a cat. When he got a bit too aggressive with the others, we gave him to our dear friend, Howie, who cherishes him as
he should be cherished. Synha could get lippy on occasion, as can be heard here. Luv, who we
adopted from the same cattery in June of 1994, is his aunt.
