MAXINE
Date of Birth: 01/04/2002
Adopted: 02/10/2007
(A.K.A. MAX/MAXIE CAT, BABY MAX, MOMMAX, PUFFALUMP, DAPHNE DAFFODIL, MISS MAX, MINI MAX, MERLOT (as in WHINE),
WHINY SPICE, EEYORE)

Maxine is our new baby. Or, as we usually address her, "Oh, Maxine" (said with melodramatic shock and a mild British
accent after she's done
something embarrassing). She's 5 years old, but that's a baby for us! Maxine is a blue lynx (tabby) point Birman and
hails from South Africa. As "Timshay Maxine," she was a Supreme Champion before moving to the U.S. in summer 2006.
Maxie had 4 litters of kittens before retiring as a spayed girl with us. She's very sweet and loving,
but she can be a whiner! If we hold Maxina for too long or aren't quick enough with her food bowl
(not a picky eater, this one!),
she lets out the most pathetic little kitten whines and whimpers.
Baby Max is also quite the wiggle worm. She was a bit of a nibbler when she first came to us, but she's all but
stopped that. She has a very sweet spirit. Hearing "No!" when she nibbles on someone puts her in such a state.
She feels so very sad and sorry that we're upset with her. She also had an interesting habit we call "The Parade of Mice." Every night, after we go to bed,
Mini Max brings all the fur mice (cat toys) she can find to our bedroom and displays them all around our bed or near
our shoes. I guess we look
hungry and not intelligent enough to hunt on our own! We, eventually, decided to put the mice in a chest drawer. She had
performed "The Parade of Mice" silently, but began to gradually start mewing louder and louder. Now she
can only play with
mice under direct supervision, or she will hide it and wake us with a very short parade after lights out. She enjoys
nightly games of laser pointer. She'll bound down the hallway in pursuit. She's filled out very well in her
retirement (the last two of the pictures above
are of Maxine just after she retired and in South Africa just before her last litter, respectively), but
she can still run and jump when properly motivated!
Maxine has the sweetest little trilling mew. It seems she get sweeter and sweeter every day. She hasn't decided to be a
lap cat yet, but she will put her front paws up on my leg for a few seconds then break off.
Such a funny little fluffball!
It's really difficult to believe she is a mama so many
times over. She talks and acts so much like a little kitten, though her walk is pure lioness.
This little girl is so adorable she could get by
with just about anything. Look into those big blue eyes ... could you refuse her?
We adopted Maxine from Kyatwo Birmans in Santa Rosa, California.
We highly recommend
them if you are yearning for a Birman of your very own. Hilde has kept one of Maxine's kittens
from her last litter, little
Miss DiDi Cup, to carry on the line. (DD is pictured below--Isn't she the cutest kitten in the universe?!) DD and
her 5 siblings were born October 18, 2006. Maxine was pregnant with them when
she arrived in the U.S. We've heard that DD is not only adorable, but she also is quite the naughty baby.
We can't wait to see what Maxine's grandkittens will look like.
